Testimonial Video Examples: How Brewed with Clean Heat Uses Them on LinkedIn

Some solutions are obvious and still catch on slowly. Industrial heat pumps in breweries are a case in point: the technology is proven and makes breweries less dependent on gas and oil, yet only a few have made the switch so far. The international campaign Brewed with Clean Heat sets out to change that.

For the campaign, we produced three testimonial videos in Germany, the Netherlands and the UK: short documentaries for LinkedIn in which brewers and technical experts talk about their own experience with the technology. Three weeks after launch, the films had been viewed at least 72,000 times on the campaign’s own channels alone. This case study shows how to tell a technical story in a way that reaches a sceptical audience.

    Great technology, hard to communicate

Brewed with Clean Heat has set out to show decision-makers in the brewing industry and in politics how breweries can switch their process heat from fossil fuels to heat pumps.

There is no shortage of good arguments. Fossil process heat has been a cost risk for years: prices fluctuate, and with rising carbon prices it is set to become more expensive. The 2026 energy crisis made this all too clear. Within six months, the price of oil rose by 55 per cent and the cost of liquefied natural gas in Europe by as much as 77 per cent.

Even so, many breweries hesitate. They worry about high investment costs, production downtime and the quality of their beer. And hardly anyone knows a brewery that has already made the switch. This is the real communication challenge: a complex topic does not reach a sceptical specialist audience through advertising messages, but through real experience.

Many initiatives, associations and NGOs know this situation. The solution exists, but it needs faces and stories before others will trust it.

The idea: brewers talking to brewers

Rather than promoting itself, Brewed with Clean Heat lets those who have already made the switch do the talking. A testimonial campaign, then, but not in the classic advertising style. The brief called for a modern, documentary tone: interviews on location, real footage of the brewing process, nothing staged.

Our job was to turn this into films that work on LinkedIn, where the campaign meets its audience, both organically and through ads. That means short running times, a positive opening in the first few seconds and a clear path to brewedclean.com at the end. You can find out more about how we approach this kind of film on our page on documentary production.

Each film looks at the switch from a different angle: a young brewery, a technology provider and a pilot project at an established brewery.

Perhaps the clearest example is Löwenherz Brauerei in the Taunus region near Frankfurt. There has never been a gas boiler here: the brewery was built with a heat pump from day one. What is still a big step for many in the industry is everyday reality for brewmaster Amos König. His film shows that a new brewery can go electric from the start.

How do you make a testimonial credible and still predictable?

The answer lies in preparation. Before each shoot, we held a preliminary interview with the protagonists. From this, we wrote a treatment for each location that defined the content of the film and was agreed with the campaign team. That way, it was clear what each film would say before the camera started rolling.

On set, we then had a conversation, rather than simply asking for facts or even putting pre-written lines into people’s mouths. An open exchange leads to authentic answers, with figures and examples coming from the protagonists themselves. For the campaign, this meant credible soundbites without any surprises. We explain how to conduct this kind of interview in our article How to conduct a video interview.

Behind the scenes: three shoots in three countries

The project was dynamic from the outset: only two months lay between the start of production in early August and completion in early October, and the locations changed along the way. Thanks to our international network, we were able to respond flexibly.

In Germany and the Netherlands, our own team filmed, in German and English. In the UK, our director worked with a local crew.

The local crew had a second advantage: short journeys. For a campaign promoting independence from gas and oil, it mattered to us to make the production itself as resource-efficient as possible. As always, our team travelled to the shoots in Germany and the Netherlands by electric car, charged with green electricity. We describe how we plan productions sustainably in our article on sustainable film production.

    One shoot, two formats

One format isn’t enough for a LinkedIn campaign. That’s why each film comes in two versions.

At GEA in ’s-Hertogenbosch, the technology itself takes centre stage. In the GEA Experience Center, a heat pump expert and a brewmaster explain how industrial heat pumps work and why they pay off today.

The square version, as here with the GEA film, is optimised for LinkedIn video ads. It takes up more space in the feed than a widescreen video, and burnt-in subtitles in English and German make sure the films work without sound. We planned the 1:1 framing during the shoot, so nothing important gets lost in the square crop.

The 16:9 version runs on the landing page and in organic posts, with subtitles supplied as files for native upload. In both versions, the subtitles are deliberately simple, without animated effects. The partners can also use the films in their own channels.

Results: the campaign reaches the right people

The campaign went live on LinkedIn on 1 October 2026. Three weeks later, the films had been viewed at least 72,000 times, a very good reach for such a specialised audience. The website, the social media content and the downloads of the campaign report have also been well received. Above all, the campaign is reaching the people it was made for: brewers and industry decision-makers across Europe and Asia.

The launch event followed on 15 October at the Brussels Oktoberfest.

    ★★★★★

“mindnapped has been really easy to work with. The team are highly organised, efficient and communicative, and have done a brilliant job of storytelling through these short documentaries; capturing not just the technology but the philosophy of brewers embracing clean heat.”

    — Ruth MacGilp, Brewed with Clean Heat

The series isn’t finished yet: more films are planned for 2027. The third film already shows where the technology could go next. Hepworth Brewery in Sussex is working with the start-up Futraheat to test a turbo compressor that recovers heat from wort boiling. Add to that solar power, reed beds and the brewery’s own use of biogas. Clean heat and sustainability go hand in hand here. Brewed with Clean Heat is still looking for breweries to join the next phase. Interested breweries can get in touch via brewedclean.com.

    Conclusion: good topics need faces

Brewed with Clean Heat had a topic that should speak for itself, yet is hard to get across. The answer was not even better arguments, but credible messengers: people from the industry, well prepared and interviewed openly, in films made for LinkedIn.

Do you have a topic that’s great, but hard to tell?

    Frequently asked questions

What makes campaign videos for NGOs and nonprofits effective?

Credible voices from the target audience itself. When practitioners share their experience, a message carries more weight than any claim made by the sender. That’s why Brewed with Clean Heat lets brewers and technical experts do the talking, not the campaign.

How do you shoot a testimonial video series in several countries?

With a treatment for each location and an international network that can respond flexibly to changes. Depending on the location, our own team or a local crew films under our direction.

Which formats work best for LinkedIn video ads?

For ads, the square 1:1 format with burnt-in subtitles works well, because many people watch videos in their feed without sound. For landing pages and organic posts, a 16:9 version is also useful.

How long does it take to produce a testimonial video series?

For Brewed with Clean Heat, around two months passed between project start and launch, for three films in three countries, including treatments, shoots and two rounds of feedback.
